In 2021, we attempted to break the World Record for the Largest Dog Wedding Ceremony. While the record remains unbroken, we raised a lot of money for several very grateful animal rescue groups in the Chicagoland area who were hit hard during the pandemic. This made our hearts howl, so this year we are coming back for a second bite at the biscuit!

On October 2nd, 2022, we are looking for dogs (and their owners) to join us at the Northwestern Medicine Field to take part in the largest dog wedding in history. Help us break the existing Guinness World Record of 178 dog couples getting hitched, while also raising awareness for K9s For Warriors so they can continue their incredible work of saving more lives.

The name of the 2022 attempt is "Diamonds in the Ruff" and our goal is to raise over $100K for K9s for Warriors, the Nation's largest provider of service animals for Veterans, along with 12 other service animal organizations and local adoption groups in the Chicagoland area.

K9s For Warriors exists because of a fierce dedication to saving the lives of both Veterans and rescue dogs. Roughly 20 Veterans die by suicide every day, and K9s For Warriors is determined to change that. Our focus is to educate and raise awareness for Service Animal training organizations and local rescue groups on a mission to improve mental health with the help of our canine friends. The perfect marriage- with a majority of dogs coming from high-kill rescue shelters, these dedicated organizations build an unwavering bond that facilitates the collective healing and recovery of those struggling with mental health issues.

Beyond raising awareness and funds for service dog groups and rescue organizations, the Diamonds in the Ruff event is aiming to break the World Record title for the Largest Dog Wedding Ceremony. This light-hearted and cheerful day is full of meeting new friends, entertainment, raffles, treats, and many more surprises!

You may be saying to yourself "178 dog couples?! That is a LOT of dogs, and I'm not sure how I feel about that." As dog owners and lovers ourselves, we understand the concern and this was something we were sure to address before we attempted to break this record last year. Your dog(s)' safety is of the top priority for both Diamonds in the Ruff organizers and Guinness World Records. In fact, a single incident involving two dogs the day of the wedding will result in immediate disqualification! Guinness requires that every group of 50 dogs is supervised by an experienced dog handler (or "steward") to ensure that the entire day goes off without a hitch (except for your dog getting hitched, that is). This year, we'll be doubling down on this requirement by adding an additional steward for each group of 50 dogs - that's twice than is required by Guinness!
